The whole exercise, up until the other day when they dragged Stephen Leeder into the frame, has been a blatant marketing exercise run by CSL. It hasn’t helped that punters are now being advised they may have to fork out twice for influenza vaccines to be administered by private practitioners, at $X per visit.
If this was truly a national emergency, as citing the threats to pregnant women suggests, then governments would have taken the responsibility of running the vaccination program by taking their multidose vials into every school. As it is, it looks like they will walk away with a take-it-or-leave-it shrug. But CSL has been paid in advance. Who has been running all the TV stand-ups? The same people who covered for James Hardies?
