The admission “Not only Aborigines would benefit, for example, from the removal of alcohol promotions from sporting events” in the editorial (‘The beverage of mass destruction‘, 3/1) is courageous. Such a big idea, dismissed in one sentence. It should have been in a smaller font, to further lessen the irritation of advertisers and sporting bodies.
We really do need to blow out of proportion the misdeeds of a few Aborigines on the grog in remote camps. That’s the way to sever the link between sports and drunkenness. See, it’s off the front page, already.
