Social Media vs ??

What does it mean when Social Media “wins”?
Are readers & users more, or less, likely to seek out printed publications or web-sites that provide sufficient material to make an informed judgment?
OTOH, if social media takes the route to real social progress, is the time & effort spent on WordPress, or reading at Edge, less useful to progress?
For example, how do city-dwelling voters inform themselves about the complexity of issues in Aboriginal affairs, such as land use & the sustainibility of remote communities?
The same questions apply to energy needs, and the environment.
Then, what is the place for newspapers in helping readers to be better informed? Should voters expect to pay $10 per week, or should it all be free.
If the way to progress for all is by inclusion, do the social media assist?
Politics is, by nature, exclusionary. Publications, eg newspapers, that align with politics, therefore, may work against inclusion.

The female-male divide sits pretty squarely on this axis. Females are, by nature & habit, inclusive. Males divide the world into competitors-enemies, hence their skill at politics.
