JG’s image is one of being self-made and hard-edged. If the sleuths had been able to attach softer anecdotes from school, family, communities, etc, they would have down so by now, as part of the PR. When one has such a small base of attachments into the wider world, it’s hard to conjure up images with which to appeal to a broad range of folk.
Abbott, OTOH, has plenty of all that. Makes him far easier to “like”. His family will happily round him out, but can his peers & colleagues steer him away from his parochial leanings?
